Teva makes strap-based sport sandals and outdoor footwear, created in 1984 by Grand Canyon rafting guide Mark Thatcher, who added a nylon ankle strap to a thong sandal so it would stay on in whitewater. Deckers licensed the design in 1985 and now owns the brand outright, alongside UGG and HOKA. Core styles include the Original Universal, Hurricane XLT2 and Terra Fi hiking sandals, plus Ember and ReEmber slip-ons. Webbing straps, Velcro closures and recycled-plastic uppers define the look, which cycles through streetwear collaborations and festival-season resurgences.
