The Real McCoy's is a Japanese heritage label founded in 1988 by vintage dealer Hitoshi Tsujimoto, who began by mail-ordering exacting reproductions of A-2 leather flight jackets. Now headquartered in Kobe, it recreates 1940s and 1950s US military and workwear garments to original specification, from vegetable-tanned horsehide bombers and N-1 deck jackets to loopwheeled sweatshirts, chinos and denim. Sub-labels include Joe McCoy, Buco and Double Diamond. Retail sits in the premium tier: loopwheel sweats around $210, leather jackets $1,300 and up. Alumni founded Toys McCoy and Freewheelers.
