Abacaxi

Abacaxi is an independent label founded by Indian-American designer Sheena Sood, who studied at Brown University and Central Saint Martins and runs the brand from Brooklyn, New York. Collections center on handcrafted, small-batch clothing built from custom prints, hand embroidery and beading, with textiles sourced from artisan communities in India and garments produced locally in New York. Signature pieces include printed dresses, embroidered separates and saree-blouse-derived tops. Sood describes the aesthetic as urban-island: saturated color drawn from her family's trips to India, applied to relaxed contemporary silhouettes.
