Matta NY

Matta is a small-batch womenswear and lifestyle label founded in New York in 2003 by Milan-born designer Cristina Gitti, following her split from earlier venture Malatesta. Collections are built around hand-spun, hand-woven, block-printed and tie-dyed cottons, silks and wools developed with artisans in India, cut into tunics, kaftans, loose dresses, separates, shawls and children's pieces. Home goods, leather sandals and jewelry round out the range. The original Soho store closed during the pandemic; Matta now sells via mattany.com and wholesale stockists internationally.
