Fabrics are developed, not bought

Founder Kazuyuki Kumagai works with Japanese mills to develop the wool and cashmere meltons, jerseys and denim the collection is cut from, which is where the high pricing sits.

Miyake training, muted end result

Kumagai assisted at Issey Miyake from 1990 to 1995, and the output stays quiet: MA-1s, biker jackets, melton coats, cargo trousers and knitwear in subdued colours.

Two lines, different risk levels

ATTACHMENT is the wearable minimalist side, while sibling label Kazuyuki Kumagai Attachment takes the more experimental cuts; VEIN's Koki Enomoto is reported to design ATTACHMENT since AW22.

ATTACHMENT is a Tokyo menswear label founded by Kazuyuki Kumagai, who assisted at Issey Miyake from 1990 to 1995 and began showing at Paris Men's Fashion Week in 2006. The line builds a muted, minimalist wardrobe — MA-1 and biker jackets, wool and cashmere melton coats, cargo trousers, Japanese denim, knitwear and jersey — from fabrics Kumagai develops with domestic mills. VEIN designer Koki Enomoto is reported to have taken over design duties from the 2022 Autumn/Winter season. Sibling line Kazuyuki Kumagai Attachment (KKA) handles more experimental cuts.
