Both brands focus on relaxed silhouettes and a commitment to sustainable materials.

Comfort Colors makes garment-dyed blank apparel: heavyweight ringspun cotton T-shirts (the 1717 is its best-known style), pocket tees, sweatshirts and hoodies in a broad palette of soft, washed pigment shades. Chemist Barry T. Chouinard founded the label in Northfield, Vermont in 1975; Gildan Activewear acquired it in 2015 for roughly $100 million and still operates it. Garments are sewn in Mexico and Honduras from US-grown cotton and dyed in Vermont. It functions mainly as a blanks supplier for screen printers, campus bookstores and small merch labels.
