Gildan

Gildan Activewear is a Montreal-based manufacturer of undecorated basics, founded in 1984 by brothers Glenn and Greg Chamandy out of the family's children's-apparel textile business. It runs a vertically integrated, low-cost model, spinning yarn and sewing in-house across Central America, the Caribbean and Bangladesh, and supplies blank t-shirts, fleece hoodies, socks and underwear to the screen-print and promotional trade. Its brand portfolio includes Gildan, Comfort Colors, American Apparel and Gold Toe. The company is publicly traded on the Toronto and New York exchanges as GIL.
