Jackman is a Japanese factory brand rooted in Tanabe Meriyasu, the Fukui sewing plant founded in 1949 by Mitsugu Tanabe to make baseball stirrup stockings after he watched visiting American teams play. Now operated by successor company Hit Union, it builds an "American sports freak's wardrobe" of loop-wheel knit tees, GG and Dotsume heavyweight sweats, hoodies, ground jumpers, waffle midnecks and pima crewnecks, still cut and sewn in Echizen City.
