Maui and Sons
Maui and Sons is a California surf and skate label started in 1980 by Malibu surfers Jeff Yokoyama, Rick Rietveld and Steve Prested, who first tried selling cookies before switching to apparel. Richard Harrington bought the company in 1989 and remains CEO, with Rietveld as chairman. Output centers on boardshorts, graphic tees, hoodies, skateboards and beach gear built around Rietveld's neon Shark Bite logo and 1980s cartoon graphics. The company licenses footwear, eyewear, bags and watches, and distributes through mass retail across the Americas, Asia and Europe.
