What to know about FREITAG

Every bag is one of one

Bags are cut from used truck tarpaulins, so the graphics, colours and wear marks on each piece are whatever the tarp already carried.

Salvaged parts, not new materials

Tarp panels are finished with bicycle inner tubes and seatbelt webbing, the same construction logic the brothers started with in 1993.

More than bags now

The line runs past 50 models from backpacks to phone sleeves, plus F-ABRIC, a compostable apparel range in hemp, flax and modal.

Brand facts

FREITAG is a Zurich bag label founded in 1993 by graphic-designer brothers Markus and Daniel Freitag, who cut used truck tarpaulins into messenger bags finished with bicycle inner tubes and seatbelt webbing. Every piece is a one-off defined by the tarp's existing graphics and wear. The range now spans more than 50 models, including backpacks, totes, wallets and phone sleeves, alongside the compostable F-ABRIC apparel line in hemp, flax and modal. The founders still fully own the company, which sells through its own stores, retail partners and freitag.ch.
